BLS for Healthcare Providers

The Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Course (BLS for HCP) is designed for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. These healthcare providers may include (but are not limited to) doctors, nurses, paramedics, medical technicians, physical and occupational therapists, doctor’s assistants, medical and nursing students in training, nursing aides, medical and nursing assistants and other allied health personnel.

The Course is also designed as a prerequisite for advanced courses in resuscitation, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Neonatal Life Support (ANLS) and BLS Instructor Courses.

Course Duration:

  • 6 Hours excluding the Exam.
  • Minimum of 6 learners, maximum 9 learners per class

  • The Chain of Survival
  • One Rescuer CPR (Adult, Child and Infant)
  • Two Rescuer CPR (Adult, Child and Infant)
  • Use of a Pocket Mask
  • Bag-Valve-Mask Ventilation
  • Automated External Defibrillator
  • Team Dynamics
  • Choking (Adult, Child and Infant)

For successful completion of the Course, participants will need to demonstrate proficiency in CPR and AED use, and obtain a minimum score of 85% in the final written evaluation.
